Creating A Soulful Intimate Connection

What is an intimate connection? Some would say it is the moment a man buys a woman a present and does not ask her what she wants; others would say it was when a woman puts a man and their children above herself; some will talk about a moment in their favourite movie; for others it would be the ultimate sacrifice for the one they love.

But creating a soulful intimate connection is more than what we do for each other, it is more than what we say and it is more than how we feel. Soulful connections, I feel, are about taking off the layers of yourself and showing your all. To be totally vulnerable with the one you love.

Easily said but how is it done? How do you hold your own fears in your heart and place them in someone else’s hand and hope they do not break it. It takes trust of on all levels. It takes responsibility for self, communication and the ability to challenge all that you have learned so far. This can be found in the practice of Tantra. I will share with you a three quick ways to create a connection with others.

Eye Gazing

You can see all you want to see in the eyes of another and the exercise of eye gazing is a great way of beginning a deep soulful intimate connection. Eye gazing allows for two souls to connect. Try it!

Sit across from another and softly look into their eyes and just wait, there will be a moment you connect and your souls will align. You usually find that your breathing aligns and all other thoughts disappear and you can sense your souls connect.

Heart to Heart Connection

Touching the heart of another in deep gaze is the next step in connecting in soulful intimacy. The heart to heart connection is a beautiful way to connect with another. Always be respectful; always ask permission, even if you are in a relationship. Use their name. Name, Can I touch you heart?

After they say yes, gently place your hand over their heart chakra. They too should ask you and they place their hand over your heart chakra. Sitting in silence, you send each other love in spirit, in mind and your heart. Feel the warmth; intimacy and love grow as the connection deepens.

What I appreciate about you

The art of gratitude is not a new concept and telling others what we see and appreciate is a great way to build intimate connections. This exercise is added to the two above to create a loving space between two people and our simple truths are told. It is a place to see the little things about the other and show them all appreciation.

I say to clients this could be as little as “I appreciate that every week you take the bins out and I never have to think of it”. Or the way they watch the children as they play in the yard, to the way they smile, laugh or the noise they make when they sleep. It opens the heart of the other as it shows that you see them, you see their efforts, you see their love or you appreciate the smallest things about them and they touch your heart.

Tantra is about creating deep intimate relationships but more than that Tantra, for me, is the recognition of another’s soul, a way of being that allows for intimacy and deep connections to infiltrate your life. You no longer need drama and judgement. It is a commitment of practices and a way of being that if embraced will change your life. I was taught to teach Tantra to couples and singles for their intimate relationships, however, I will say practicing Tantra can help in everyday life, it will create a space for love and healing in all relationships and it will, if practiced, create an unbreakable connection with you, others and the world.
