The holidays are fast approaching and in the season of celebration, here are some tasty and healthy Christmas drinks that you may want to try over the festive season.
Now you can fully enjoy your holidays without feeling guilty or declaring that you are going to hit the gym hard when January the 2nd comes!
Vegan Eggnog
- 2 cups soy milk (original or vanilla flavour)
- 1/4 teaspoon cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/3 cup brandy (or not!)
- 2 1/2 teaspoons maple syrup
Directions:
Blend all ingredients together in a pitcher. Serve your delicious vegan eggnog over ice and dress with a sprinkle of nutmeg and a cinnamon stick for the perfect festive touch.
Cranberry Ginger Hot/Cold Toddy
- 4 pieces of fresh ginger thinly sliced
- 1 teaspoon of lemon juice
- 1 big handful of fresh or frozen cranberries
- sweetener of choice (e.g. stevia)
- 2 cups water
Directions:
- In a saucepan, boil the water.
- Add the remaining ingredients to taste and boil for 5-10 minutes to allow the flavors to fully come out. Add another handful of cranberries just before serving.
- For Cold Toddy, simply refrigerate this drink or make it more concentrated and serve over ice.
Notes
The ginger can be re-used and boiled many times, save your leftovers. To make more Hot Toddy just add more water, lemon juice and cranberries.
Not only does this drink taste great, but it’s gorgeous in color. Enjoy at home on a quiet night or at Christmas gathering.
Gingerbread Cookie Smoothie
Ingredients:
- 1 cup almond milk
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 tablespoon of molasses
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, or more to taste
- 1 teaspoon of all spice, or more to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground ginger, or more to taste
- 1 tablespoon of vanilla flavour
Directions:
- Blend all the ingredients together in your blender.
- Consider decorating with a Gingerbread cookie on the side.
